Bihar (earlier known as Magadha) is one of the oldest living places in the world and was one of the greatest kingdoms in history. Today, it is popular as a poor state. But Bihar is one of the few places in India where one can learn in detail about the rich history of India. It is one place where you can trace the age-old legends of the country and acknowledge why India was called the golden bird.

Janki Temple

                   

Janki Mandir is situated in Sitamarhi, Bihar. Sitamarhi is regarded as a birth place of Sita, wife of Lord Rama. It is believed that Janki Temple is a place, where Sita was born and this Temple was constructed here around 100 years ago to mark this event. This temple has a welcoming gateway and large courtyard that can accommodate a huge number of devotees. Also a pond nearby known as Janki Kund is a popular tourist attraction for both visitors and worshippers.

Patna

The capital of Bihar, Patna is the largest city. It is located on the Ganga's southern bank and is one of the world's oldest continuously populated town. Earlier  this city was known as Patliputra. Patna is a pilgrimage for Sikh followers since it is said to be the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the final Sikh Guru. During the reigns of Haryanka, Nanda, Mauryan, Shunga, Gupta, and Pala, the city thrived and gained reputation throughout India.

Sher Shah Suri Tomb

This monument is situated in Sasaram and was built in 1545 AD in remembrance of Emperor Sher Shah Suri, it is an exceptional example of Indo-Islamic architecture in India. This architecturally beautiful structure built in the center of an artificial lake is worth a visit in Bihar. 

Kesaria Stupa

India's tallest and biggest Buddha Stupa is situated in East Champaran. It is one of Bihar's most popular tourist destinations. The stupa was constructed between 200 and 750 AD during Raja Chakravarti's reign. It is an impressive monument with a height of 104 feet.

Navlakha Palace

Navlakha Palace is located in Rajnagar, near Madhubani. Maharaja Rameshwar Singh built this palace, which was reported to be severely damaged by an earthquake in 1934. After the demolition, no renovations were carried out, and the palace is now in ruins. It is a royal palace, and despite its extensive damage, its architectural dignity can still be admired. Gardens, a pond, and temples make up the royal complex.
